Asset tiers
portfolIQ organises assets into three tiers based on CoinGecko market cap rank. Each tier has different update frequency and data availability.

VWAP coverage in Tier 3
Not all 1000 tokens have a VWAP consensus price. Approximately 175–255 tokens are excluded because:
- They trade primarily on DEXs (no reliable CEX OHLCV from our 5-exchange basket)
- They are listed on exchanges outside our basket (KuCoin, Gate.io — used as fallback for Tier 3 only)
- Volume is too thin — fewer than 3 exchanges provide data → no price published (methodology requirement)
Tokens without a VWAP appear in the asset list with vwap_usd: null. This is expected behaviour, not a data quality issue.
On-chain metrics
On-chain metrics are available for Tier 1 assets with sufficient blockchain activity:
- Bitcoin (BTC):
tx_count,fees_total_usd,avg_fee_usd,active_addresses— sourced from mempool.space and Blockstream.info (public RPC, no key required) - Ethereum (ETH):
eth_tx_count_24h,eth_avg_gas_price_gwei,eth_gas_utilization_pct— sourced from ethereum.publicnode.com (public RPC)
All on-chain metrics are descriptive aggregates. No address-level data. No entity profiling.
